Premier Division - Week 14

E-mail Print PDF

With the second round of matches almost complete time to refelect on the season so far.

Team wise Meopham A look to have the title for the taking subject to any disasters but second place is still wide open between Dartfordians A and GRFC A. Meopham B have had a good season and until recently were in the mix. Unfortunately they are having problems fielding teams at present which has seen them slip down the table. At the bottom last years' promoted teams GRFC B and Sutton B look doomed although Sutton have a slight chance of catching Dartfordians B.

On the individual front will Justin Dodd lose this season? He has lost 1 match in each of the last 2 seasons will it happen this year? Some thoughts for individual honours this season from the author

Most improved player - Peter Worthington

Most underrated player (by himself) - George Joannou

Most inconsistent players - Peter Rushbrook and Mick Kilden

Best mannered loser (doesn't happen very often) - Peter Davis

Best win of the season - Carol Homewood against Brian Lees

Any comments or thoughts from readers would be welcomed.

In the league Dartfordians A slipped further behind leaders Meopham A as they could only beat Meopham B 7-3. Peter Wortehington and Emma Tovey both recorded wins against Peter Rusbrook. Peter Davis and Wayne Holder managed maximums.

Meopham A kept the pace up with a 10-0 win against GRFC B with Mark Heaton, Brian Lees and Dave Wilkins scoring maximums.

The 2 Sutton teams met with the A team winning 9-1. Neither side had their strongest team out but Adrian Foster and David Brent scored maximums quite comfortably and were ably supported by Carol Homewood with 2. Homewood lost to Geoorge Joannou 12-10 in the 5th.

A strong Dartfordians B side wasted the opportunity to pull clear of the relegation battle when they lost 9-1 to GRFC A. Justion Dodd won 3 as did Steve Mansfield who recorded a great win against Ted Tydeman. The consolation point went to Tydeman who beat Martin Winter. The win keeps GRFC A very much in the hunt for second place.
