The tilte was won despite Darfordians B fielding a strong side with Ted Tydeman, Jill Shipton and Mick Sheppard. MIck again proved difficult for Brian Lees who last time lost to Mick, This time the match went to 5 and Brian stuttered over the finish line 11-8.Meopham are beginning to get used to Brian's 5 game thrillers but they are never easy to watch! Mark Heaton and Brian Lees went on to win 3 but the best match of the night was Tydeman against McAulay which saw some great tactical play from Ted in particular, noticeably changing his game plan after the first game. Dave became more and more annoyed with himself and stopped his normal hitting game which very much fell into Ted's plan with Ted finally winning 11-6 in the 5th game.
Dartfordians A are making this difficult for themselves only turning yu with 3 players at Sutton who fielded a strong side themselves. The result was a 6-4 win for Sutton which proves what I have said to Adrian Foster before that they could mount a serious title challenge themselves if they could consistently get theit strongest team out. Maybe next year? Peter Davies who has had yet another good season in the main won all 3 but Peter Rushbrook lost to both Jason Russell and Adrian Foster who also combined to win the match with a very tight 12-10 victory in the doubles in the 5th.
That result combined with GRFC A 9-1 win against Traders has certainly made it tighter for second place although it is a big ask for GRFC A who still have Meopham A to play. Clive Pattison was the only successful player for Traders beating Martin Winter.
Meopham B beat Meopham C 8-2 with Tom Tobin and Chris Pening both winning 3 each and Peter Worthington 1. Dick Ellis and Emma Tovey both won 1 each. Chris has had a useful finish to the season which bodes well for next year.
Congragulations again to Meopham A for a well deserved tilte (I would say that of course but who cares!).
